Venusaur is reached at run level 41 on Bulbasaur’s path. Giga Flower Whip is this stage’s Ultimate, while Grass-hit healing and the attack progression remain part of the starting Bulbasaur kit.
Game data v0.8.62Checked 2026-10-28Build advice: our recommendations
Venusaur uses the run started with Bulbasaur. The levels below describe that partner’s attack offers, not a new loadout unlocked by evolution. Kit-offer levels and the level of an individual attack are separate.
FAMILY PASSIVE
Synthesis
+1.5 regen and +25% healing. Your Grass attacks heal you a little (0.4% of HP per hit, up to 5 times per second).
Gathers sunlight and fires a solar beam from which sharp leaves sprout on both sides; where it ends, an explosion of petals blooms.
Both component attacks must reach attack level 8. The later kit offer still needs to appear and be upgraded; reaching a run level alone does not complete the fusion.
These are PokeBonk run levels. They differ from evolution levels in the main Pokémon games. Evolved forms stay attached to the partner you started with.
Judge upgrades by the attacks doing the clearing. Flower Beam deals special damage, so Calcium supports that route; physical damage alone will not improve every attack in a mixed kit.

Ultimate progression
Each stage has its own Ultimate in a run started with Bulbasaur. The highlighted card is Venusaur’s form. The listed time describes the ability’s duration, not its recharge time.
Bulbasaur · 1.6 s
Furious Roots
Six thorny roots burst from the ground in a star shape and root everything they cross.
Ivysaur · 2 s
Frenzy Plant
Eight roots and a ray of sunlight that heals you for 20% while the spores put nearby enemies to sleep.
Venusaur · 2.6 s · THIS FORM
Giga Flower Whip
Ten roots, the sun and a giant flower that opens around you in three waves of petals.
Build around the attacks you kept
These are starting points for a Bulbasaur family run, not a promise of one best loadout. Keep damage, survival and movement balanced around what is ending your attempts. The planner uses the three base vitamin slots and saves locally on this device.

Your saved selections are shared with the Vitamins page and every form in this family. This does not change your game account.

Buy for the problem you actually have. A fourth move slot gives a future attack room, while health, armor, recovery or movement can help you reach the later offers in the first place.
To get Venusaur, unlock Bulbasaur as a League partner, start a run with it and follow its evolution path: Bulbasaur (Lv. 1) → Ivysaur (Lv. 24) → Venusaur (Lv. 41). Venusaur is an evolved form of that run’s partner, not a separate League starting choice.
Choose Bulbasaur as your first partner, or check your League
On a fresh session, select Bulbasaur from the three first-partner choices. That choice makes Bulbasaur your first League member. If you already chose a different starter, continue with the partner you own; you do not need to erase your progress or start a new account.
If you chose another starter, finish two runs
Bulbasaur’s League challenge is to complete 2 runs, win or lose. A clear is not required. Check the challenge in the League after those attempts: completing it makes the partner available for the encounter-and-capture step, rather than immediately adding it to your selectable roster.
Weaken the normal Bulbasaur encounter and capture it
If Bulbasaur was not your initial partner, find its challenge encounter in the following run. Defeat or weaken it until the game marks it ready for capture, then move close and use the capture input shown on screen to throw your Poké Ball. Do not leave the encounter or take the exit while it is still waiting to be caught. Completing the challenge and defeating the encounter are separate from actually capturing it.
Confirm Bulbasaur has joined your League
Check the League after the capture and select Bulbasaur when you start the run you want to play. A Pokédex sighting only records that you have seen a species. A shiny catch unlocks a look but does not substitute for the normal challenge-and-capture requirement; a captured Alpha fights beside you for that run and does not join your League.
Evolve Bulbasaur into Ivysaur at run level 24
Start this run as Bulbasaur and keep collecting experience until your run reaches level 24. This is the PokeBonk evolution checkpoint for Ivysaur, not the evolution level from the main Pokémon games. Raising an individual attack to that level does not count: attack levels and your run level are different. This gives you Ivysaur; stay in the same run and continue leveling for Venusaur.
Evolve Ivysaur into Venusaur at run level 41
Start this run as Bulbasaur and keep collecting experience until your run reaches level 41. This is the PokeBonk evolution checkpoint for Venusaur, not the evolution level from the main Pokémon games. Raising an individual attack to that level does not count: attack levels and your run level are different. You now have Venusaur as your active form in this run.
What stays unlocked after the run?
After the run ends, choose Bulbasaur again for another attempt and reach the same evolution checkpoint to play as Venusaur. Seeing or reaching Venusaur does not turn it into an independent level-1 League partner. The family’s passive, kit offers and Ultimate progression follow the run you started with Bulbasaur.
OUR CLASSIC OPENING RECOMMENDATION
Tier A: why we place Bulbasaur here
Grass hits can turn attack uptime into recovery, backed by regen and stronger healing. That earns A tier, but the hit requirement and shared trigger cap keep it below more automatic recovery kits.
Keep Grass attacks connecting; Razor Leaf and Solar Beam also give you a defined Flower Beam route.
65/100 is an editorial opening score, with comfort weighted at 50%, offensive potential at 30% and utility at 20%. It is not a measured win rate. Venusaur is grouped with Bulbasaur; this score does not rank the evolved form’s late-run ceiling.
Unlock Bulbasaur, start a run with it, and follow Bulbasaur at run Lv. 1 → Ivysaur at run Lv. 24 → Venusaur at run Lv. 41. Venusaur is reached through that run’s evolution path rather than selected as a separate level-1 League member.
Can Venusaur evolve again in PokeBonk?
Venusaur is the final recorded form on Bulbasaur’s standard path in the reviewed v0.8.62 data. It is reached at run level 41. Continuing to level improves the run but does not add another standard evolution to this path.
Is Venusaur ranked separately from Bulbasaur?
Our Classic opening comparison groups Venusaur with Bulbasaur because Bulbasaur is the partner you select at the start. Its A-tier opening recommendation is not a separate measurement of Venusaur’s late-run damage.
What is Venusaur’s signature fusion recipe?
The Bulbasaur family uses Flower Beam: combine Razor Leaf and Solar Beam. Both ingredient attacks need attack level 8 before using Bill’s Machine. These are attack levels, not run levels. Evolution into Venusaur does not automatically equip the ingredients or complete the fusion.
Which vitamins should I use for Venusaur?
For a build centered on Flower Beam, Calcium supports its special damage. Super Potion helps with recovery between hits, while Iron is an alternative when contact damage is ending the run. These are build directions, not a requirement to fill all three base slots with one fixed combination.
Does catching a shiny Venusaur unlock it as a starting partner?
A shiny catch unlocks the family’s shiny look but does not replace the normal League challenge and capture for Bulbasaur. You must still start as Bulbasaur and evolve during the run to use Venusaur; the shiny look does not make the evolved form a separate starting partner.
